In this ongoing 7-week class, we will mingle, sing and learn Jolly Phonics together. Jolly Phonics is a fun, engaging way to build early reading skills. Each letter sound and blends have a corresponding hand motion plus catchy songs. Example of Jolly Phonics letter sound cards and motions. Pretend to be a mouse by wiggling your fingers on the end of your nose as whiskers and squeak i,i,i Pretend to be jello and wobble saying j,j,j Week of Jan 17th, 2023: Jolly Phonics Letters ABC/Motion and Song/Winter. Week of Jan 24th, 2023: Jolly Phonics Letters DEF/Motion and Song/Sports. Week of Jan 31st, 2023: Jolly Phonics Letters HIJK/Motion and Song/Animals. My name is Kerie Miller. I am an Early Literacy Tutor and a professional author/illustrator working in children's publishing and I work under the pen name Charlie Eve Ryan. I have done projects for both trade books and educational publishers. Everything from picture books to board books and magazine spreads. I also do art workshops. Clients include Page Street Kids, Astra Publishing, Amicus Ink, McGraw Hill, as well as Highlights and Ladybug Magazines.
As an Early Literacy Tutor, I work for an online educational company where we work with children in charter schools all over the US. I work with children ages K-5nd grade. We help create future readers.
In the past, I have worked for a local school district as a substitute teaching assistant. I love to teach and interact with budding bookmakers, writers, and artists, while also helping students develop early math, reading, and English skills.
My classes are a place for creatives to explore new ideas and build confidence in their maker skills. A place where art, words, and fun facts collide.
