課堂經歷
All ages can have fun in this art class! Projects are designed so everyone can be successful. Older students are welcome to add more detail and change the project to fit their personal style. Younger kids can find joy in the process and still have something whimsical made at the end. It's all good and whatever you make is great. Kids are encouraged to enjoy the process of making something with their hands. Projects are teacher led with step by step directions, but it's process over product in the end. The goal is to have fun and relax! Come take your mind off of the other difficult things in life and enjoy some art making. In this class, every project is made with air dry clay. Some have backgrounds of paper, and all will be painted. This class needs time for drying, so these are projects you work on throughout the week. Students will learn some very basic techniques for air dry clay, like scoring and using slip to make small pieces stick together. We will learn how to paint on wet or dry clay. A few require some use of pipe cleaners and wire to make forms or make pieces stand up. Younger students may need a small amount of adult help. Each project will be posted via a video guide of Ms. Kristin showing the process of making each project, step by step. Videos will be hosted through a youtube link embedded in the weekly post in the classroom. Students can either watch the entire video and then do the project, or follow along with each step (recommended) as they watch. Each project will be shown in it's finished form in the video so you can see what the finished project will look like before beginning the steps. Students should post a photo of their finished project in the classroom under the weekly teacher video post, to share with classmates and to receive classmate and teacher feedback each week. Students should comment on each other's work, leaving positive feedback. We will discuss what we liked, didn't like, what went well, what we struggled with, and enjoy the artwork made by our friends and teacher. Project topics starting with week 1 and ending with week 12: Egyptian Canopic Jar: Make a jar like the ancient Egyptians used for mummifying Bird House: Create a bird house with a tiny nest, eggs, and bird to go in it. The top lifts off for playing. Delicate Arch: Visit the Delicate Arch in Utah and recreate it from clay. Then we will paint some cave drawings on it to add our own touch. Fairy Door: Need a magical door so the tooth fairy can come for a visit? Let's make one Sea Monster Shelf Sitter: This 3 piece sea snake will guard your book shelf Textile Stamp: Let's use a hand made stamp to create patterns on fabric with fabric dye Emotional Human Sculpture: Happy or sad, Scared or Enthusiastic - we can show emotions through our bodies and colors. Make a clay person and paint them to show their emotions. Fish in the Reef: Coral reefs are so much fun to see under the ocean. We will make our own with some sea animals too. Bento Box: Love to eat sushi and other bento box yummies? Me too! Let's make some of our own. Simple mushroom: Add this mushroom next to your installed fairy door for a whimsical environment! What else will you do with your clay mushroom? Bird Votive Holder: A turkey, maybe a peacock? Create a bird of your choice to hold a little battery operated candle! Owl: This little owl is sure to look wise sitting on your book shelf

Younger students may need help.
Beware: battery operated votives have a button battery inside them! If you choose to add one to your bird project, make sure your child knows to never open it, that they aren't kids who tend to put things in their mouths, and that you are aware of the dangers of swallowing a button battery. I personally take the little light from my own younger kids and only let them have it under direct supervision.
Youtube: A youtube link to the class content will be embedded in the weekly posts. These are my own videos I have made with only me in them showing how to make the projects, hosted on youtube. They shouldn't have any access to ads or other content, but you may need to make sure Youtube is allowed on your child's tablet/laptop/etc to view. I have them set as "for children" with child appropriate content, private with link only, and comments off.
供應清單

I am Ms. Kristin (she/her), and I am so excited to be a part of the Outschool community! I have a B.S. in Elementary Education from Oklahoma State University, and hold a current teaching certificate in Oklahoma. I have a total of 20 years of teaching experience in PreK-5th grades. I choose to homeschool my own kids (three boys - 2nd, 6th, and 9th graders.) I am currently both the coordinator and an elementary school teacher for the elementary program at our local secular homeschool academy. I love to sew and read when I have free time! My guilty pleasure is binge watching corny TV shows.
I hope to offer a range of fun and exciting courses on Outschool geared toward the PreK-4th grade age range. My favorite subjects to teach are writing, reading, science, and crafts. I can't wait to meet your families and include you in my world of learning!
