Together, learners will explore the foundational concepts of animal classification through weekly, multi-media lessons hosted on Genially and Nearpod. Lesson material will include reading, video and interactive games. Lessons will be posted Monday morning 7 am EST. Additionally, each week, learners will be presented with a short demonstration or simulation that corresponds with the weekly lesson objectives. If learners choose to work toward a grade for the class these will act as homework...
Upon completion of this class learners will be able to: -Describe the science of taxonomy and it's importance -Classify invertebrate marine life using a dichotomous key. -Identify and describe the main characteristics of the following invertebrate phyla: Porifera, Cnidaria, Platyhelminthes, Nematoda, Annelida, Mollusca, Arthropoda and Echinodermata. -Explain the role invertebrate animal phyla have in the marine environment.
