課堂經歷
Do you want to be a fashion designer? Do you love making clothes for your dolls or toys but don't know how to translate that into a collection? In this flex class, students will learn the foundational skills needed to thrive in the fashion industry. We will begin with inspiration and by the end of the 4th week, students will be able to describe in detail what their fashion collection is about (inspiration and niche) and who they are designing for (target market/demographics). This class is collaborative in nature meaning students will discuss, present and share their ideas with their teacher and peers. Students will also learn how to analyze their unique color palette and how to create multiple color ways within their own collection. After students have developed their final collection, they will present to the class and share their inspiration and collections. After the completion of this course, students will be able to take their inspirations and translate them into a fashion collection. Class videos will be posted each Monday where the teacher will demonstrate each activity for the week and give a quick lecture. Students will have the full week to complete each assignment. There is no previous experience or knowledge needed before joining this class, just the ability to be creative and have fun! Week 1: -Teacher will give presentation via video on Mood Board & Inspirations & Personal Branding -Teacher will demonstrate How to Create a Mood Board (can be on poster board or shoebox student can decide) -Homework for next class: Complete Mood Board. Students will be required to post a video with an explanation of their finished mood board/shoe box to classroom. Be sure to save all magazine scraps/magazines as we will use these again in Week 3!! Week 2: -Teacher will give discussion via video on Croquis / Fashion Illustration -Teacher will demonstrate How to Draw a Croquis -Homework for next class: Students will complete 3 croquis sketches and share a video of the poses you sketched for your croquis. Students can also choose to upload pictures of themselves posing in various fashion poses to help give their classmates inspiration. We will discuss the importance of different poses in a classroom discussion. Week 3: -Teacher will give discussion via video of Individual color palettes & analysis -Teacher will demonstrate and give examples of Color ways and textures in collections -Teacher will discuss Color Theory and how designers use these principles -Homework for next class: Students will complete a rough draft of their mini-collection of designs on croquis. Students will be use various colors and techniques in their collection using their color palettes and various patterns aligned with their chosen season. Students will also be given a challenge activity to prepare for week 4. Week 4: -Bringing it all together to create your 3 look mini-collection! -Teacher will discuss via video various methods to create different portfolio looks, it is up to the students to choose which style suits their personal style. -Students will present their final collection designs via video and upload to the classroom for peers to comment on. Students will interact by telling one another who they think each collection is designed for and what season. This class is a flex class so we do not meet in person. Every week students will be required to post a video to the Outschool classroom of their assignments! Students will also leave at least one positive message to another student in the class. There will also be a classroom discussion topic each week relating to fashion. Students will be expected to write at least one response for the weekly post. If questions arise, students may post in the classroom or ask through private message. I will check the classroom posts on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. I will do my best to respond to private messages within 24 hours. I know some skills may be easier to grasp than others but the goal is to have fun too!

***Now that brick and mortar schools are back in session and I am teaching full-time, my schedule and class offerings/availability has changed. During the school year I will still be offering weekend classes starting as early as 8AM PST. Thanks for being so understanding. Please check out my flex class offerings if those times do not work for you as they are identical to the live-in person versions***
Hi There! My name is Alisha and I am a credentialed high school Home Economics teacher located in Southern California. The classes I teach are related to fashion design, interior design and graphic design. Before I became a teacher, I worked in the US and Australian fashion industry for 6 years as an Assistant Designer and International Wholesaler. I believe design skills are incredibly important and viable in today's economy. I love seeing students chase their passions and want to help them on their paths to become designers. I became a designer because I am 6'2" and nothing ever fit me so I started making all of my own clothes!
I also teach basketball classes. I played professionally in Australia for 4 years after college and loved it so much! I miss being on a team, but love helping young athletes develop the necessary skills to help them be a great teammate and player.
