Students will know how to detect and defend themselves from phishing attempts on social media and mobile messaging.
In this class, we will discuss social engineering and potential outcomes of receiving a phishing message. The content is presented in a fun kid-friendly manner, however the scenarios and outcomes are based on real events. Scenarios may include images of fictitious passwords, infected devices, and cartoon images of cyber criminals (hackers). No sensitive information will be shared. No systems will be infected. All names and social handles are fictitious. My goal is to prepare, not scare. However some students may have questions or concerns surrounding their digital security after class. Parents are encouraged to talk to their students about digital security on a regular basis. If you have any questions. please contact me. I'm happy to provide parental guidance.
