課堂經歷

This is it: the last run. After drawing your character- development and all- it’s time to test your skills and take it to the max. Given all of the growth and development experienced with your artwork thus far you’ve decided to do it all one last time. Much like the way an athlete prepares to be fit, strong and ready for the Olympic challenge, you too are ready to “bulk up” on practice to improve your skills. Now is your chance to flex, stretch, grow your artistic muscle and get “buff”. And the best part is, everyone will see results!

Welcome to the final level, Intro to Character Design: Advance. In this class you will apply everything you’ve learned thus far to your drawings while being exposed to information given as lessons for each day that will help you improve upon them that much more. This class will be taught a bit differently than the previous two.

Instead of centering each lesson on the class assignment for the day, each lesson will focus on a particular topic related to the assignment that is meant to teach and help students on how they can produce the best results possible. These topics include Color Theory, Straights vs. Curves (technique used to make drawings more dynamic), drawing folds for clothing, Squash & Stretch (a technique used by animators to add exaggeration and appeal to characters), and how to better use references for their drawings- from poses to backgrounds. And just think, all of this is only part of the fun!

All students are expected to know the information given in the previous levels so they won’t have to reference back to it during this level. There is more drawing you will be doing during this level, so come prepared to knock it out of the park! The Advance Course is perfect for students who are ready to test themselves to farther extent and really pull out their potential. It won’t be easy, but the things that are worth the most never are. And I know you can do it! I hope to see you there!

This camp goes for 5 consecutive days (Mon-Fri), with each session lasting 90 minutes. The first 4 days will go towards the lessons, which include topic introduction, using examples and tips on how to apply what's been taught. The 5th and last day will go towards presentations when students will present their finished products and critique, which includes giving feedback on their classmates' work and receive feedback on them from other classmates. The first 30 minutes of each will go towards covering the information. The last 60 minutes will be studio time where students are free to work, ask questions and converse with classmates.

This camp is offered to two separate ages groups: 10-13 and 14-16. Character Design is offered in 3 different levels based upon artistic ability (overall skill level, work load, prior knowledge of topics covered during the course and ability to apple them under a time constraint).

**THIS IS NOT A CLASS THAT TEACHES STUDENTS HOW TO DRAW. EACH STUDENT MUST ALREADY HAVE DRAWING KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CLASS FOR LEARNERS WHO DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DRAW.

**THIS CLASS HAS LIMITED REFUND POLICY. MEANING, REFUNDS WILL ONLY BE GIVEN UP UNTIL A WEEK BEFORE CLASS STARTS OR WITHIN 24 HOURS OF PURCHASE (UNTIL THE CLASS STARTS).

**PLEASE NOTE THAT CLASS TIME FOR THE LAST DAY WILL VARY AND MAY END EARLY DEPENDING UPON THE TOTAL NUMBER OF STUDENTS.

2. Straights vs Curves: what they are, how they imrpove a drawing, how to find them on figures and how to apply it to your art.
3. Drawing clothing & Folds: how to identify different folds and where they are and how to draw them.
4. Squash & Stretch: what it is/means, how to identify them in drawings and apply them to yours.
5. How to use references: quick and easy ways you take a pose, figure, expression and/or background and use it for your drawings.
