No specific homework is assigned, but students are encouraged to finish pages we start in class and explore other options and media.評估
Throughout the class, I will have artists share their pages with me to see their progress and ask questions as they arise to ensure they are comfortable with the media, the process, and their progress. We will engage in respectful and relaxed conversation as we work to discuss the goals for their book and brainstorm ideas to get them there.我們無法翻譯此文,請刷新頁面並再試一次。
課堂經歷
Think sketchbook + art projects + journal = art journal! These are also known as altered books or visual journals. These books become collections of visual expressions, techniques, and self-reflection. Artists will combine different media and subjects and create thematic journeys of their own time and place. We explore what an art journal is and how to get started by taking a visual tour of my books. We will look at various media and techniques I typically incorporate. We will discuss journaling and some of the ways one can format a book, depending on their needs, goals, and visions. Students can start their own books by following step-by-step demonstrations on some sample pages of how to use different media and incorporate art elements and design principles. This introductory one-time class is meant to be a springboard for a longer-term journey into art journaling by repurposing an old book as the main canvas. As such, we may not finish entire pages, but start a few that can be continued after class and inspire students to explore various mixed-media techniques. I will assess where everyone is several times to gauge the pace and adjust as time allows. I will provide many opportunities to view the styles and ask questions as they arise. Thank you! **Look out for my ongoing class where we will work on several spreads over the course of a few weeks!
學習目標
My goal is to inspire students to tap into their imagination and spark their desire for self-expression by introducing them to an art journal (aka altered book/visual journal) and try different mixed-media techniques. I hope they plan to continue creating this journal long after the class has ended.

學士學位 在 音樂或戲劇或藝術 從 UCLA
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA and spent my first 10 years out of college working with professional designers and photographers in the publishing world. I was exposed to an eclectic variety of art media and styles. Later, as a volunteer art teacher, I was introduced to altered journals and fell in love with combining journaling and art together, so I made my own!
I have enjoyed art journaling for many years and have worked on my own journal as a great way to create a distinctive piece of art that also included personal reflections, notations, and adornments.
