Has your learner ever been curious about sign language? Are they a tactile, "hands on" learner? If so, this class will be a perfect introduction to American Sign Language! In this class, learners will learn the ASL Alphabet through the technique of finger spelling. They will learn how to sign each letter in the ASL alphabet, through live instruction, songs, and games. At the end, they will learn how to sign their own name in ASL. No prior experience is needed, this is an introductory one-time...
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will demonstrate correct use of fingerspelling and letter shapes in ASL.
I studied ASL for three years in high school, receiving a 3.90 grade average in the class and completing ASL Level 3. I now use ASL regularly in my work with children with developmental and learning disabilities in elementary schools. This is an introductory one-time class, where I will be introducing the basic principles and hand-shapes of the ASL alphabet.
