The class will teach how to make a brigadeiro (Brazilian chocolate caramel) with both verbal instructions and a live demo. The students will make the brigadeiros during class with the teacher monitoring and giving real time input. This is both a hands-on cooking class and a culture class. During the time the dessert is cooling we will discuss how brigadeiros got their name and the typical birthday celebration where brigadeiros are usually served. 1 can (14oz) of sweet and condensed milk 2 tablespoons of butter + additional for coating hands when rolling the brigadeiros 4 tablespoons of cocoa powder pinch of salt decorative sprinkles (all chocolate jimmies are most common) 2 quart sauce pan wooden spoon or spatula spoon for scooping out the brigadeiro bowls/plates for the sprinkles and to serve your dessert
