課堂經歷

This class will take a deeper dive into the inner workings of a budget. We will go over different types of expenses [fixed, variable, needs vs. wants] and how they should be prioritized. This lesson will also teach different budgeting methods [50/20/20/10, Zero-Based Budgeting, Envelope Budgeting System, etc.] Students will have an opportunity to fill out a budget using a couple different scenarios and share their results with the class. We will analyze the budgets together to determine optimization.

Students should be familiar with the basics of a budget [save, share, and spend] and be able to perform basic math functions with a calculator.

This class is designed to be highly interactive, with an emphasis on student output so the class is tailored to their interests. My classroom style is energetic and participation-driven so students can feel engaged the entire time.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Class Policies:

1. I aim to keep classes close to the scheduled amount of time. However, classes with low enrollments or especially talkative students may run a few minutes under or a few minutes over.

2. I want each student to have an engaging time both with me and with fellow classmates. Therefore, If a class does not meet the minimum enrollment requirements, (usually 2) the section will be cancelled. I will contact the parent before cancellation to transfer the student to a new section. Depending on the circumstances, I may still teach a single-learner class.

3. Classes will begin at the scheduled time, even if all learners are not in the classroom (unless there appears to be a technical issue). I will not be able to contact absent learners during class time because I'll be focused on teaching the attending students. If you would like to transfer your student to a future class, please contact me with the requested schedule.

4. If no students are present in the classroom when class is meant to begin, I will wait 10 minutes before exiting. Once I exit the classroom, the class will be considered finished.

5. Classroom expectations are as follows:

   a. Students will not be muted in the classroom, unless there is excessive background noise that is disruptive to the learning of others. I will review class rules at the start of each lesson [ex: raising your hand].

  b. Students are expected to participate as much as they can or feel comfortable. I understand some students may be reserved or shy - they will not be forced to speak up! Younger students can bring a stuffed toy or remain standing during class if it helps them focus. I would ask older students to not have their phones with them during the lesson.

  c. I love including families in class! Parents and siblings are welcomed to watch the class. However, if siblings are going to both participate, each sibling must be enrolled in the lesson individually.

  d. My classrooms are designed to be inclusive and welcoming, and I want each student to get the most out of their class. For this reason, if a student is disruptive during lesson, they will be given up to three warnings before being placed in the waiting room. The student will be readmitted to class when the teacher feels they are ready to rejoin. If behaviors are extreme enough, the parent will be contacted by the teacher and the OutSchool team will be notified as well.

I'm a CPA and have been working in public accounting as a tax advisor for over a decade. I also have spent the past 4 years volunteering my time by teaching financial literacy to students in public schools for grades K-8.
