每週 1-2 小時. We will complete an assignment in class together so students will have a sample paper that was written collaboratively by the class. If students would like to write their own paper on the topic and turn it in for feedback they are welcome to.
評估
It is completely optional if students want to complete an additional assignment on their own. If they do they are welcome to turn in their assignment and receive constructive feedback on the Structure and Style aspects of the IEW program. Papers should be edited for grammar, spelling and punctuation before turn in and should be submitted via Google-Docs

In this dynamic course, students will embark on a journey through the essential elements of writing using the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) methodology. Guided by a fun and upbeat teacher, this class seamlessly integrates note-taking, outlining, and writing skills, providing a comprehensive foundation for effective composition.

Students will begin by mastering note taking and outlining, the cornerstone of all IEW writing units. Through the "I do, we do, you do" teaching methodology, I will introduce new material, model it for the students, and work on reinforcement activities together. Students will learn how to create outlines from single paragraphs, providing the scaffolding for the IEW methodology.

Next students will delve into the process of writing from notes. Just as a blueprint provides a plan for a structure, IEW teaches students how to plan before they write. Through engaging activities and encouragement, students will refine their note-taking and outlining abilities, ensuring they have a solid foundation for effective writing.
Students will have the opportunity to share written work with the class and receive positive growth focused feedback.
學習目標
By the end of this 4 Session Class students will have written 4 papers/paragraphs. They will understand how to make outlines, verbally retell the information, and write it into a paragraph. They will have learned how to format a paper, create an interesting title and 3-5 "dress-up" techniques.

I'm a dedicated educator with over a decade of experience teaching IEW. My passion is to make writing engaging and enjoyable for my students, and I strive to bring creativity and interactivity to every lesson.

As a parent of three children, I've had the opportunity to use the IEW program at home and have walked my own kids through the program. This personal experience has given me a unique perspective and deep understanding of the challenges that students and families may face in the writing process.

In my classes, I aim to create a supportive and dynamic learning environment that encourages students to take risks and develop their own unique voices as writers. I believe that with the right guidance and support, every student has the potential to become a skilled and confident writer.

Whether in the classroom or at home, I'm dedicated to making writing a positive and rewarding experience for all students, and I'm excited to share my knowledge and passion with you.
