An overview of each of the ten body systems will be reviewed, one in each hour class: Integumentary (skin), Muscular, Skeletal, Nervous, Circulatory, Digestive, Respiratory, Excretory, Endocrine, Reproductive, and how they overlap with other systems. Week 1 -- Integumentary System (skin, hair, nails, membranes) -- the lesson will cover the locations of skin and membranes, their purposes, the types of cells and tissues of which skin is composed, and an overview of the structure of hair and...
Students will be able to name the ten main body systems; Integumentary (skin), Muscular, Skeletal, Nervous, Circulatory, Digestive, Respiratory, Excretory, Endocrine, Reproductive, and how they overlap with other systems. They will be able to describe the systems' functions, main structures or organs, and cell and tissue types as appropriate.
I have been a biology, and other sciences, classroom teacher in Pennsylvania for over 30 years. Back in the 80's, I taught 7th graders about the AIDS crisis, and how to protect themselves.
I will provide any reading materials or worksheets the students will need.
The lessons on the endocrine system and reproductive system may make some younger students uncomfortable. Parents and students are welcome to email me with any concerns or questions they have.
