ABOUT: Have you ever dreamed of starting a YouTube gaming channel? Do you love playing different games and sharing that love with others? This class is for you! Learn how to start a channel off on the right foot! We will go over all of the details from starting the Youtube Channel, creating a video, tagging and titling the video, making thumbnails, and more! This class is lead by online gamer DanieG Gaming. After a lot of research, my family-friendly channel was able to gain over 21,000 subscribers in its first year on YouTube. I am ready to share all of the tips and techniques I used to help grow this channel and several others. STUDENTS WILL NEED: *Their favorite gaming system -this class will work best with current gaming systems such as a Nintendo Switch, PC, iPad. Older game systems will require extra components to screen record games. *A device for editing such as a PC, Phone, or Tablet - we will discuss free and inexpensive methods of editing content. *Access to YouTube (students will have the opportunity to create an account with parental permission) CLASS STRUCTURE: Students will be required to upload their completed material to the classroom portal for review. Students will also view completed materials from other students. Students will be given challenges, questions, and rewards from the teacher throughout the class period. Each week students will use a series of activities, worksheets, and hands-on activities to complete their assignments. Students will be required to record, edit, and publish videos to the classroom portal. Students do not have to create a real YouTube account. Creating the account is up to the discretion of the parents/ It is suggested you read YouTube's terms of service prior to creating your account. SCHEDULE BREAKDOWN: Week 1: What Content Do I Want To Make - Let's Create the Channel Let's name our channel. What will your channel be about? What content do you want to make? In week 1 we will plan out our channel and learn how to make a channel. Students (with parental permission) may create an actual Youtube account to upload their content to. Students without an account will still participate but will not upload their videos directly to their channel. Students will be uploading their content to the classroom portal regardless of if they have created an account on YouTube. Week 2: Finding Trending Topics & How To Use Them To Boost Your Channel **Do you know what is trending this week? Staying on top of the trending topics is an important part of having a successful youtube channel. Youtube has several free tools to help you find the best topics to cover on your channel. Week 3: Creating Content - Planning, Mapping, and Scripting Planning your content is important. Especially if you are making a tutorial or a how-to video. We were able to find topics that are trending on youtube. Let's use those topics to plan our very first video. What topic did you pick? Does your topic need a script or an audio overlay? Week 4: Record that video! Now that we have our first video planned. Let's record. Recording a video will be different for each student based on their device. We will discuss free ways to record our videos and save the recorded content so we can edit it in the previous week. Week 5: Editing, Music, and Thumbnails - Free Tool For Your Sucess! Let's talk about all of the free and easy ways to edit a video and create a thumbnail. Thumbnails are one of the most important parts of a successful video. The thumbnail will draw in traffic to your channel. It is important to make a great thumbnail for each video. Making thumbnails can be quick and easy. Let's learn how! We will also talk about how to use Copywrite free music and pictures. Week 6: Title, Tags, and Descriptions Congrats! You have created your first video, but now what? Did you know that title, tags, and description of a video are how YouTube determines if they want to suggest your videos to new viewers? These three things are critical to the success of the channel. We will learn about how to create them and tools we can use to help us improve them. Week 7: Uploading, Sharing, and Critiquing Wow! We have everything we need to upload our first video! Let's talk about the upload process. This might seem like a simple task, but there are many steps and components to uploading a video. We will discuss the important features such as privacy, scheduling, premiers, safety certification, and more! Ensure your video is uploaded with the correct settings! Week 8: Wrap Up, Questions, Goodbyes We did it! We uploaded our very first video and we are ready to take on the world of YouTube. It is important to support other content creators so let's check out our friend's videos. Leave a comment and thumbs up videos. Do you have any more questions about youTube? I am happy to answer any questions you might have. Remember, this is only the start. YouTube channels can take a while to grow so don't give up! Use the tips you've learned in this class to grow your channel and have fun sharing your favorite hobbies! OTHER INFO: If you have any additional questions please feel free to reach out.
