⭐This a one-time self-paced class. There will be no live meetings. In this class, students will learn how to draw and watercolor paint Kwanzaa Candles in a Kinara, or candleholder. Designed with beginners in mind, this pre-recorded video class is suitable for ages 6-9. The teaching process used for the drawing portion of this class is a step-by-step method that will inspire students into creative action! This process involves observing, following instructions, and creating until each student is happy with the outcome. Students will learn basic drawing and watercolor painting techniques and apply these techniques to complete this project. This art class is designed to give beginner artists the skills they need to jump-start their artistic journey into self-expression, reflection, and creative thinking. Supplies and materials needed for this class: +watercolor paper +set of watercolor paints +paint brushes +permanent marker +cup of water +paper towel Steps to complete this project: Step 1: Draw a Kwanzaa Kinara Step 2: Paint the Design (let dry) Step 3: Add Details to the Design Total time needed for students to complete this project is approximately 40 minutes. This is a self-paced video class where students may proceed through the art lesson at their own pace. Video may be paused at any time. There will be no live meetings, however, I will be available for questions and gentle encouragement. It is important to me that your learner's experience is a positive one. My teaching style is relaxed, supportive, joyful, and fun. I encourage students to add their own details to their masterpiece to make it their own. I'm open to any comments, questions, or feedback that you may have.

Drawing and Watercolor Painting Kwanzaa Candles and Kinara
In this drawing and watercolor painting class, we will discuss the art supplies needed for this project. We will review composition and placement of shapes and lines on our sheet of paper. With a permanent marker, we will combine shapes and lines to create a Kwanzaa Kinara, or candleholder. Once our drawing is complete, we will paint our design and add details. We will discuss the application of watercolor paints, how to change the value of a paint color, and how to create the look of texture.
