According to New York Times about its bestseller book - "How to Catch a Turkey" is about a turkey is running loose in a school right before a Thanksgiving play. Can YOU help catch it? Follow along as students turn their school upside down trying to catch the turkey, ending with a twist that ensures no turkeys are harmed (or eaten!). In this class, we will listen to this silly story laughing along the way, then we will discuss how WE would try to catch the turkey by designing our own turkey...
Education Standards include: - Develop a simple sketch, drawing, or physical model to illustrate how the shape of an object helps it function as needed to solve a given problem. - Describe characters in a story (e.g., their traits, motivations, or feelings) and explain how their actions contribute to the sequence of events. - Ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the text as the basis for the answers. - Describe how characters in a story respond to major events and challenges. - Ask questions, make observations, and gather information about a situation people want to change to define a simple problem that can be solved through the development of a new or improved object or tool. - Retell stories, including key details, and demonstrate understanding of their central message or lesson. - Ask and answer questions about key details in a text.
