The field of Orthotic devices (bracing) is a rapidly growing and changing field. In this course, students will be introduced to the field of Orthotics from a clinical perspective. We will discuss what an orthosis is, how orthotic devices work, the basic components of Spinal, arm, and leg braces, and how orthotic devices are made. Students will be introduced to the field of Orthotic Devices
I hold a Bachelors of science in Health Sciences and a Masters of Science in Prosthetics and Orthotics. I have been a science educator for over 6 years. I am currently a full time Resident at a Prosthetics and Orthotics Clinic.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There will be several images of injured limbs and x-rays, but none of a graphic or surgical nature.
All notes will be provided to students.
