Inauguration Day in the United States is once every 4 years on January 20th but it wasn't always on this day. Join me as we look at the history and significance of Inauguration Day. We'll understand why this date was chosen and the significance of the transfer of power from one American president to the next president. We'll learn about the inauguration celebrations of various presidents throughout America's history. Through the use of primary sources, Google Slides and a trivia review game, we'll understand the history of Inauguration Day and why it matters. Together, let's learn about how the past has shaped the present. No prior knowledge is required for this class.

Learners will be able to explain why Inauguration Day is January 20th and how the date was chosen.
Learners will make a connection between the US Constitution to the significance of Inauguration Day.
Learners will explore new facts about the ways inaugurations have been celebrated by various presidents.
Learners will read and comprehend excerpts from historical inauguration speeches.
Learners will demonstrate understanding through a final review game.
