每週 1 小時. Optional homework sheets will be offered at the end of each week. These sheets will revisit key topics and provide practice problems, reinforcing the lessons learned. These assignments will not be collected or graded. However, answer keys/ solutions will be provided during the following week's class, allowing you to check your work and identify any areas where you might need further clarification.評估
A short, optional pretest will be offered at the beginning of the course. This allows students to gauge their existing knowledge of chemistry concepts and helps identify areas where they might need additional support. At the end of the course, an optional post-test will be offered. This summer camp chemistry class is designed to give you a head start or a solid refresher on various high school chemistry topics! Whether you're gearing up for your first look into the periodic table or looking to solidify your understanding from a previous class, this camp will equip you with the knowledge you need to excel. This class is designed to be engaging and interactive. Here's what to expect: - Clear and engaging presentations with slides and visuals to explain key concepts. - Hands-on activities and games to solidify your understanding. - Video clips to illustrate concepts and spark curiosity in chemical reactions. - Group discussions and challenges to encourage collaboration and problem-solving. - Open communication: students should feel free to ask questions and clarify any doubts throughout the course.

Atomic Structure

Topics: Atoms, subatomic particles (protons, neutrons, electrons), atomic number, mass number, isotopes, periodic table organization.

Periodic Trends

Topics: Introduction to the periodic table, groups (families) and periods, trends in atomic radius, ionization energy, and electronegativity across the periodic table.
Activities: Exploring the organization of the periodic table, analyzing trends (increasing/decreasing) for atomic radius, ionization energy, and electronegativity. Relating these trends to the structure of the atom (number of protons and electrons). 50 分鐘線上直播課

Chemical Bonding & Intermolecular Forces
HS-PS1-3, HS-PS1-4
Topics: Ionic bonding, covalent bonding, Lewis structures, molecular geometry, intermolecular forces (dipole-dipole, hydrogen bonding, London dispersion forces).
Activities: Differentiating between ionic and covalent bonding, drawing Lewis structures for simple molecules, exploring the relationship between bonding and molecular geometry. Investigating intermolecular forces and their impact on properties (melting point, boiling point, etc.). 50 分鐘線上直播課
