Students can easily understand abstract math concepts when they are presented in a concrete manner. Lesson 1: We will begin with the connections between squares, rectangles, rhombuses, and parallelograms. Practice of perimeter will be included. Lesson 2: We will hear a story that will illustrate the concept of area. Then we will do a hands-on activity that will help your child understand the concept of area of squares and rectangles. Ms. Sarah has a master's degree in education and Montessori certification, plus over 20 years of elementary classroom experience. She enjoys helping students understand abstract concepts using math materials that make sense to them and seeing those ah-ha moments when students grasp a difficult concept for the first time.
