Can music create a mood? Students will learn the history of some “spooky music” and we will discuss how music has the power to make us feel anxious, scared, startled and terrified. This class will listen and watch performances of many different pieces of music which (time permitting) may include: JS Bach - Toccata and Fugue in D Minor Frédéric Chopin - Funeral March Hector Berlioz - Symphonie Fantastique Modest Mussorgsky - Night on Bald Mountain Edvard Grieg - In the Hall of the Mountain...
I have a degree in Music Performance from Louisiana State University. I am an oboist and play in many ensembles as well as maintaining a private music studio since 1996.
We will be exploring some scary sounding music and how this music affects our mood and emotions. This class is not recommenced for children who are scared easily by spooky music and sounds.
