If possible, the student should have a separate device with GuitarTuna open on that device. That way I can help them to 
tune their own guitar strings, and see how GuitarTuna works in real time. If this is not possible, then I will 
still show the app in my screen during class, so that the students will get an idea of how to tune, and how GuitarTuna works.

Youtube may be used sometimes, for me to play a part of a song during class, if it is a song we are learning, so they can hear how the rhythm goes. I may sometimes post a youtube link for the song we are practicing, in the classroom, if I think the students will learn the song better by listening to or and playing along with it. 

I ask that the students use the GuitarTuna app or GuitarTuna online tuner. That is my preferred tuner and I will teach them how to use it during the first class. 

I will post a link for the GuitarTuna, online version, in the classroom. You can find the free GuitarTuna app for your phone, in your play store or app store on your phone. 

If the student needs help Tuning their guitar, I offer a "How to Tune Your Guitar" class. 

Another option is taking the guitar to your local guitar shop and they can tune it for you, usually  for a fee.

Electronic tuners are ok if your student is good at using it and can tune their guitar with it. 
Electronic tuners are not my favorite choice for beginners. 

**The electronic tuners are generally not as good for Beginners and especially difficult to use if the guitar is brand new (especially if it was shipped by Amazon) because the strings on the brand new guitar are often so low and so out of tune that the electronic tuner will not be much help, especially if you are not experienced at tuning the guitar .
