Reading builds children's vocabulary, teaches grammar, and develops a love and passion for stories. In this class students build foundational reading skills. They learn “super power” reading strategies in order to read a decodable book each week, and establish their identities as readers (knowledge of letter sounds is a prerequisite for this class). Students engage in different activities that address phonological awareness, print concepts, word families, sight words, and...
Read books with sight words, and words with common words families, such as -an, -am, -at, -ap, -et, -op, -ot, -on, etc..
I love teaching children how to read, and have a master's degree from Northwestern University and a certificate to teach English as a foreign language from Georgetown University. I was a kindergarten and first grade teacher at an international school, and have been teaching children how to read for more than 15 years.
The printable books are from Reading A-Z, and the digital phonics activities are on Boom!
