🔴🟡🟢Ready... Set... Go! It's the Grammar Games!!

This Flexible Schedule class is perfect for summer practice. During each of the 4 weeks, we will play a different game to review grammar concepts. The games are a great addition to summer break, whether you are going on a road trip or just staying home. Since it is a FLEX class, you can play the games at your own pace and when you have time. No due dates!

Each week we will practice a few concepts by playing a game. Mini lesson videos will be uploaded on Sunday of each week. These will explain the concepts and the directions for the game. There will be a weekly assignment for students to share their adventures and answers. If students are going at their own pace, they may share answers during any week. Extra practice worksheets will be made available for those who would like additional practice. 

Schedule: 
Week 1 - Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives
Lesson: Review of basic parts of speech and how we use them. 
Game 1: Noun and Adjective Sensory Walk - During a walk, find nouns and use adjectives to describe them
Game 2: Verb Connect 4 - Various activities using different verbs. Students need to complete at least 4 activities to "connect 4."

Week 2 - Prepositions and Adverbs
Lesson: Review of prepositions and prepositional phrases. We will work on adding adverbs to actions. 
Game 1: Preposition Places - Choose your favorite stuffed animal or item and use prepositions to take pictures or draw it in different locations. 
Game 2: Act like an Adverb - Using a list of verbs, choose 5 and describe how you would do them.

Week 3 - Transitions and Sequencing 
Lesson: Review of transitional words and phrases while working on beginning, middle, and end. 
Game 1: Dream Vacation - Plan out your perfect, dream vacation using sequencing.
Game 2: Tell Me Transitions - Use a template of a daily schedule to write about all the things you do during the day.

Week 4 - Synonyms/Antonyms and Homophones/Homographs
Lesson: Review of synonyms and antonyms and homophones and homographs. 
Game 1: Opposite Day - Pretend it's Opposite Day and say everything using an antonym. 
Game 2: Say What?! - Try confusing your friends and family by using homographs and homophones. 

Some lessons will include screen shared Nearpod videos. These are selected videos that help enhance the topics. 

Students are invited to post pictures and videos of their games and outcomes. If students feel more comfortable sending messages to me privately, that is always an option!
