📆How is this class structured? This is a flex unit. I will post new instructional materials each week. The duration of each video is 7-10 min long. Students are expected to watch the video provided and answer the quiz that follows the instruction. 🚨Can I earn credit for this class? Students who complete the full course (and their assignments) can submit this documentation and apply for credit at their local school. Many schools also offer an option to test out of this class and place into other higher math units. 🚨I struggle in math, can I join this class? Absolutely! Remediating students in math is one of my specialties. 🎓 About the instructor I come to you with over 15 years of experience in STEM education. I am a certified educator in 6 different States. I hold a Bachelor's Degree of Science with distinguished honors. In addition, I hold a Masters Degree Science Education and Doctorate of Philosophy in Teaching Learning and Culture with a specialization in Science and Mathematics Education. You never stop learning! I became a teacher by choice. Teaching young minds has been one of the best things that has happened to me. I love to learn as much as I love to teach! 📆Class assignments Each lesson is followed by an optional assignment that will help students to reinforce the concepts learned during class. 👏🏻Assessments Summative assessments will be optional and available to students. The goal is to provide students with exposure to what a standardized assessment looks like without adding the anxiety that comes with testing. Student achievement will be measured formatively in the form of discussions, and assignments. 🚨Additional Resources You need two things for this class: A notebook and a pencil. Dr. V. will provide you with access to readings, slide decks, vocabulary lists, and practice problems after each class. 🚨Who normally takes this class? This class is for students who have completed 2nd grade math.

Lesson 13.1: Understanding Perimeter
Students learn that distance around a figure is its perimeter. They find the perimeter of a polygon by adding the lengths of the sides. Students use unit segments on a grid to find the perimeter of a shape. They also find perimeters given the lengths, including those on scale drawings. Learners recognize that they can draw many different shapes that have the same perimeter. 1 作業

Lesson 13.2 Perimeter of Common Shapes
Students learn to find the perimeter of common shapes by adding the lengths of the sides. They are reminded that opposite sides of a rectangle are the same length and that all sides of a square or equilateral triangle are the same length. If all sides are the same length, students can use multiplication to find the perimeter. Learners practice finding the perimeter of polygons using addition and multiplication. 1 作業

Students learn to find the area of shapes by counting the square units within each shape. A square unit is a square with sides that are each 1 unit long. Learners recognize that the number of square units inside a shape is its area, and area can be estimated or found using square units. Students learn to choose the best units to measure the area of shapes. A square unit is a square with sides that are each 1 unit long.
