課堂經歷
The college preparation process for grade 10 begins with a look at Career Exploration. We will discuss several easy ways that students can begin to discover how they can include their career-personality profile in their search for an appropriate major in college and later a career path that brings them joy. Using real life examples and relatable success stories, students will learn about potential careers. By taking the Career Personality Profiler, a free online 15 minute career aptitude test, students will learn how to match their unique personality and interests to potential career paths. The suggested careers consider the combination of personality factors and interests to actual careers. The theories of The Holland Code and Big Five systems play a role in careers that match the student's strengths. The most important question to consider as the learner takes the online test is simply if they would enjoy the activity and not whether they have the skills to do the activity now. This class will be serious in self-discovery, but fun-filled in the approach. My students love this college workshop session as they feel in control and excited about the future!

Annie Edwards has for nearly four decades been a teacher, administrator, and mentor in an independent school setting. She grew up in Maine. Most recently, Annie served as the Director of University Guidance at Beijing City International School in Beijing, China. She designed and delivered a college prep program for grades 9-12 and presented workshops on topics including course selection, exploring extracurricular activities, individual student self discovery, creating the college list, studying in the US and abroad, as well as the entire college search and application process. Prior to that post, Annie resided in upstate New York in the U.S where she served as the Associate Director of College Guidance, Academic Director and Advisor of the Community service program. She also taught French, English and psychology. Annie holds a bachelor's degree from St. Lawrence University, a master's degree from Middlebury College, and a Certificate in College Counseling from UCLA. 評論
