This is a great class to give children 4-6 year-old an additional experience with helping them learn skills needed in kindergarten. These are the main kindergarten skills that will be covered in this class. We will cover as many of these as possible in the number of days and the class time that we have. 
1. Letters- Children will work on letter identification and letter sounds through listening to songs and listening to alphabet stories. 
2. Books- We will read aloud a story book in each class session such as “Ms. Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten” by Joseph Slate, “The King of Kindergarten” by Derrick Barnes, Dr. Seuss’s ABCs by Dr. Seuss, and “Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom” by Bill Martin Jr.  
3. Art- Children will also complete fun projects during class. For example, the children will draw a self-portrait of themself with crayons and paper. They will also be able to paint a picture on paper with water color paints while listening to music. They will also write their name on paper with crayons or markers. 
4. Morning message-We will read a morning message written by the teacher together, so the students will know what we will be doing during each class.
5. Sight Words- We will be working on learning sight words by listening to songs by Jack Hartman and Harry Kindergarten music. The teacher will also be writing some sight words on a dry- erase board. 
6. Math- The students will work on counting and number identification. They may even learn to count by 5’s and 10’s to 50. We will use an estimation jar to have children guess how many of an object is in the jar..
7. Rhyming words- Students will learn to name a word that rhymes with another word ( cat-bat, man-pan). 
I am a fun, creative, patient, caring teacher who enjoys working with young children. The class is interactive. The children are welcome to ask questions and to talk with other students.
