This Class is for Students who SPEAK and can READ GERMAN. Together we will be reading the classic "Pippi Langstrumpf"in German. Some students might have watched the classic show or read some of the stories before or they have heard about it from their parents. It was definitely a much loved kids show and your children will enjoy the fun stories about Pippi, her horse Lilla gubben, her monkey Mr. Nilsson, her best friends Annika and Tommy. Students will read the chapters at home and during the class they will read their favorite part from the chapter. Students will share what they liked about the chapter and what they didn't like. After this we will answer comprehension questions and if time allows we might play some games, like Snowman, Pictionary, Kahoot. If you are not sure if your student is ready for this class please contact me for a consultation. Every student needs to have the book for class. Pippi Langstrumpf by Astrid Lindgren (Gesamtausgabe), which can be found as an ebook from the publisher. We will be reading & discussing the following Chapters: Week 1: Chapter 1 "Pippi zieht in die Villa Kunterbunt ein" and Chapter 2 "Pippi wird Sachensucher und gerät in eine Prügelei". Week 2: Chapter 3 "Pippi spielt Fangen mit Polizisten" and Chapter 4 "Pippi geht in die Schule". Week 3: Chapter 5 "Pippi sitzt auf dem Gartenzaun und klettert in den hohlen Baum" and Chapter 6 "Pippi arrangiert einen Ausflug". Week 4: Chapter 7 "Pippi geht in den Zirkus" and Chapter 8 "Pippi wird von Dieben besucht". Week 5: Chapter 9 "Pippi geht zum Kaffeekränzchen" and Chapter 10 "Pippi tritt als Lebensretterin auf". Week 6: Chapter 11 "Pippi feiert Geburtstag" and Chapter 12 "Pippi wohnt noch immer in der Villa Kunterbunt". Week 7: Chapter 13 "Pippi geht einkaufen" and Chapter 14 "Pippi schreibt einen Brief und geht in die Schule - aber nur ein bisschen". [Please note I am working part-time and I do not offer 1-on-1 lessons . Also, I currently live in Singapore; 12 hours ahead of the East Coast time (USA).]
I am a native German speaker, originally from Mainz, Germany.
My husband, Jason and I have three children, ages 19, 16, and 14. They have some special learning challenges and my 2 boys are currently being homeschooled. My 19 year old has successfully graduated from high school ( she was homeschooled as well) and is currently applying for college.
My teaching experience started many years ago, privately teaching German and an after school art class at a school in Singapore while also helping mothers (living abroad) learn English as a second language (ESL).
I continued teaching German privately while we resided in the San Francisco Bay area, 2015-2020. It was also a joy to serve our community as an art docent for a class of students with special needs, and homeschool students.
While residing in Pennsylvania throughout 2020, I discovered just how much I enjoy teaching German. It was a joy connecting to so many students around the world. We all needed the connection during the pandemic.
Throughout my journey, I have also obtained a vocational degree in Hotel Management, studied pastoral counseling, graduated from Bible school in Singapore and continue learning to understand the special needs of children with learning challenges. And in my “free time,” I enjoy learning about different cultures, baking, teaching and creative art projects.評論
