This course is designed for students who have already completed a sixth grade math curriculum as a Summer review before entering seventh grade. Students will have plenty of opportunities to work with partners and play small group games. It is important for students to be active participants in class. We believe in creating a classroom community where all students feel valued and safe to make mistakes and celebrate each other's successes. We will guide student learning to meet each student where they are at and differentiate their learning. We utilize the Singapore method for teaching math. Each week, we will review a different math concept to get students prepared and feeling confident and having the foundation they need going into seventh grade. These topics do not build on one another from week to week as materials should all be review for students. Week 1 (May 30): Area of Plane Figures Week 2 (June 6): Area of Plane Figures Week 3 (June 13): Volume and Surface Area Week 4 (June 27): Volume and Surface Area Week 5 (July 4): Order of Operation Week 6 (July 11): Factors of Multiples Week 7 (July 18): Mental Math (multiplication and division) Week 8 (July 25): Multiplying Fractions Week 9 (August 1): Dividing Fractions Week 10 (August 8): Adding Fractions Week 11 (August 15): Adding and Subtracting Decimals Week 12 (August 22): Multiplying and Dividing Decimals

Students will be able to talk about their thought process when working through problems.
