Young voices matter in planning for the future! Kids are citizens too, and more cities are starting to include children and teens in their plans for streets, green spaces and transportation. Students will learn how to look at and think critically about urban spaces, learning new terms and how to express their ideas effectively. My educational and work background is in architecture and urban planning. I've also traveled the world for research and my own explorations of urban places. My classes offer kids tools to use their voices and their abundant creativity to make change in the world. If cities and towns were planned with kids in mind, they would be inclusive, sustainable, safe and fun cities, which is what I hope to see all over the world.

The students will be asked to find an area or plot of land in their own town/city/neighborhood that is underutilized. They will be asked to make (or print) a map of this place and create a design proposal to transform that space into something new. Proposals can be drawings and a brief write up. Students will work individually, and I will check in with them at the start of each class to see how their projects are coming along. Students may also post their progress on the classroom page or send it privately to me, and I will provide feedback and encouragement.1 - 2 每週課外時間
