Everyone loves stories! I will read two folk tales. I love reading to others. Bring your favorite "stuffy" and join me! You will get to listen to two wonderful folk tales about a spider named Anansi. (Anansi and The Moss Covered Rock and Anansi and The Talking Melon by Eric Kimmel) Then we will talk about them too! We will compare the two stories. How are they alike? How are they different? You can share your favorite of the two! Just remember you can never hear your favorite folk tales too many times. Each time we all listen to a story, we experience something new! I love that about stories! Do you love that too? If so, this is the perfect class for you!

I have more than thirty years' experience teaching first grade at one of the most well-regarded public elementary schools in Atlanta. In addition to my B.A. in Early Childhood Education, I have a M.Ed. in Elementary Education and Teaching and am gifted certified. As a teacher at an International Baccalaureate school, I am also well-versed in the I.B. Primary Years curriculum.
While my classes consistently score well above-average on standardized testing, I am much more focused on helping children become lifelong learners. I am especially passionate about teaching reading and math, and the pandemic allowed me to develop effective virtual methods to teach these vital subjects to young learners. This platform allows me to teach proven math and reading lessons that we will all enjoy together.
Because I currently teach first grade, I will be teaching only after school hours and on days that I am not in the school building with my first graders.評論
