This small group literacy class for children is designed to introduce young learners to the basics of the English language in a fun and interactive way! During this class, I will use engaging digital flashcards to support foundational language skills. Learning Goals: ✔️Match upper case and lower case letters. ✔️Practice identifying beginning letter sounds. ✔️Practice identifying rhyming words. ✔️Practice identifying short and long vowels. ✔️Practice identifying digraphs and blends. ✔️Practice identifying vowels in CVC words. ✔️Practice reading CCVC and CVCC words. ✔️Practice counting syllables in words. 📌Materials Needed: Writing materials (paper, crayons, markers, etc.) ✏️Homework will be provided to reinforce and practice skills after each lesson. 🤩My small group literacy class for young learners aims to create a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can begin to develop a love for the English language while building essential communication skills that will serve as a foundation for their future learning journey.

I have been teaching for more than 25 years with the Toronto District School Board. My Ontario College of Teachers Certificate number is #286618. I attended Dalhousie University for my Bachelor of Music in Performance. I also have a Bachelor of Education from Brock University. I studied classical piano from the age of 5 with the Royal Conservatory of Music. While in University, I performed as a Mezzo-Soprano in the Dalhousie Chorale.
Throughout my teaching career, I have taught K-12 Music, Kindergarten, Grade 1 and 2, Health and Physical Education. I have conducted choirs and musical ensembles for seasonal public performances throughout all of these years of teaching. I have always continued to advance my skills by taking additional qualifications courses and am very proud to be a Reading Specialist.
It is my passion and joy to make learning fun and engaging for all of my students! 評論
