Use it or Lose it! This class is designed for young learners that are fluent and can speak in the target language. The class will be conducted 100% in Spanish and we will focus on improving conversational fluency, reinforcing listening skills, reading comprehension abilities and vocabulary building. Students will meet with me and other friends that want to keep improving their bilingual skills. Each week, we will cover either a fiction or non fiction book. 1. Fiction Books contain colorful folktales from different countries hispano-hablantes. We will exchange opinions, make predictions, and answer to questions like: - Where did the story take place? - Who are the characters of the story? - What was the problem? - How was the problem solved? - How did the story end? Fiction Stories: - El Murciélago - Apalka - El Ratón de los Dientes - Kanshout y el Otoño - La Mentira Más Grande - El Quetzacoalt y el Maiz 2. Non-Fiction Books will cover various topics on science, traveling, nature, etc. We will exchange opinions and ask questions to reinforce the students' comprehension skills. Topics: - What Do I Want To Be? - Bees & Honey - Polar Bears - Monarch Butterflies - Penguins - Dogs Vs. Cats - The Life of a Beaver - Working Dogs - Festivals Around the World - Strange Animals - Lady Bugs We will laugh, make new friends and speak in Spanish only! ☺ ***If your student can't read yet, he/she can still take the class to improve his / her conversational fluency abilities and reinforce his / her listening skills***

Hola Niños! My name is Jackie. I was born and raised in Perú. Now, I live in Virginia with my family. I hold a B.S. in HR Management and I'm a Certified Interpreter/Translator for the Winchester Public Schools and local hospital. In addition, I'm TEFL certified and I have been a Spanish Teacher since 2004. My first experience as a teacher was in a regular classroom setting but since 2016, I have become a Virtual Spanish Instructor. Online platforms allow me to reach out to students from all over the World. I enjoy preparing my students try their first words in a foreign language. At the beginning they can be very hesitant but little by little, I help them build their confidence and speak in full sentences. Teaching my language is a very rewarding experience! 😃Therefore, I have designed Online Spanish lessons for Beginners, Mid and Advanced students so my little and big learners can keep taking as many classes as they want. Your children can take One-Time lessons, Multi-Day classes, Ongoing Conversational sessions and / or participate in Book Readings, Spanish Camps or Semester Spanish Classes!

My teaching philosophy is learning while having FUN and presenting the material in small pieces. I keep my classes small (1-8 students max.) and we do a lot repetition. My goal is for students to internalize the vocabulary so they can use it in their daily routines.
In addition, as an experienced Spanish Teacher, I follow the TPRS Method (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling). TPRS lessons are a mixture of reading, storytelling, activities, games and repetition. This methodology motivates and prepares my students to trust themselves speaking, reading and understanding a foreign language. I use a lot of visual aids during the class so everyone can follow the sessions.
