In this self-paced, 8-week course, students will strengthen their reading comprehension and writing skills at a 7th & 8th-grade level. This class provides full curriculum for one semester of a 7th or 8th-grade language arts class. R E A D I N G O V E R V I E W: Students will read one full novel throughout this class, "Bruiser" by Neal Shusterman, as well as two poems in the first lesson. Reading skills taught in this class include: 📚 Summarizing and drawing inferences 📚 Analyzing point of view 📚 Referring to the text when answering questions 📚 Using context clues to determine the meaning of figurative language 📚 Writing an objective summary and explaining the theme W R I T I N G O V E R V I E W: After finishing the novel, students will write a creative short story based on the novel.
