📖Book clubs are a great way to get your child excited and engaged in literature, whether they are a reluctant reader or an avid bookworm. 🤝The best part of being in a book club is having some social time with your peers. We will begin each class with a few minutes to get to know new friends or catch up with current classmates. 😄We will then dive into a thorough discussion about our current read. We will start the discussion with a brief overview of the assigned reading and then take the conversation to a deeper level. The teacher will facilitate the discussion through open-ended, thought-provoking questions to engage the students to think critically and analyze their reading. Through these discussions, your learner will increase comprehension and practice public speaking and social skills. ❗Please note, that all reading should take place before coming to class. We will not be reading together during class time. For the first class of a new book, the student should have completed approximately the first half of the book, and before the second class, they should have finished the book. 🗓️ Book List & Schedule: (subject to change at teacher's discretion) 🍂Autumn Semester🍂 Week of Sept 8: A Place to Hang the Moon by Kate Albus (First Half) – Historical Fiction Week of Sept 15: A Place to Hang the Moon by Kate Albus (Second Half) Week of Sept 22: Granted by John David Anderson (First Half) - Fantasy Week of Sept 29: Granted by John David Anderson (Second Half) - Week of Oct 6: The Emperor’s Riddle by Kat Zhang (First Half) – Mystery / Adventure Week of Oct 13: The Emperor’s Riddle by Kat Zhang (Second Half) Week of Oct 20: NO CLASS Week of Oct 27: NO CLASS Week of Nov 3: The Van Gogh Deception by Deron Hicks (First Half) – Mystery Thriller Week of Nov 10: The Van Gogh Deception by Deron Hicks (Second Half) – Week of Nov 17: The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street by Karina Yan Glaser (First Half) – Realistic Fiction Week of Nov 24: The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street by Karina Yan Glaser (Second Half) – ⏱️Your student may drop in or take a break at any time. They may attend for the second half of a book if they have completed all the reading (if they have not completed the book, they may hear spoilers throughout the discussion). 📚Since each book must be read outside of class, you will need to acquire each book on your own. Books will not be provided by the teacher or Outschool. Many of these great novels are available in either physical, digital, or audio copies from your local library or may be purchased from book retailers.

學士學位 在 心理學 從 Rutgers University
Hello! My name is Jen and I am a homeschool mom & teacher.
I believe kids can learn just about anything when combined with a topic they love. I bring my hobbies and passions to the classroom to help your child learn through the lens of our common interests. You will find that I offer fun, interactive classes and social clubs.
I earned my BA in Psychology from Rutgers University and have extensive experience in various areas.
Along with teaching, I have worked as a mental health professional, a project manager, and have also created a successful small online business. Throughout my professional career, the most important job is teaching my daughter.
When I’m not teaching, you can find me working in my garden, reading a Star Wars novel, or playing a video game.
