This class meets in one session designed to give students a well-developed understanding of four main parts of speech: nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. The class goes beyond the basic definitions of the parts of speech. We will explore how the parts of speech are related to each other and how they can be used in writing to impart important information, create a mood and engage the senses and imagination. We will distinguish between action verbs and helping verbs. We will discuss...
Students will gain a proficient understanding of these 4 parts of speech: nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. Students will be able to recognize them in reading passages. Students will be able to provide their own creative and descriptive examples of each part of speech.
