In this week long camp students will learn how fractions work and how to do the basic types of operations with fractions. These operations include: adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Included with normal fractions will be mixed numbers and improper fractions as well. We will have regular worksheets as well as khanacademy work to do for homework each day. My teaching style is to try to help students see that fractions are not as scary and difficult as they might seem. By going...
Students will improve their understanding of how to add/subtract/multiply/divide Fractions, Mixed Numbers, and Improper Fractions. Students will also gain insight into what fractions are and what they represent.
I have a Master's Degree in Education and have been teaching and tutoring since 2005. I have found that so many students struggle with later math because of a weak understanding of fractions and how they work. I hope that by offering this class when they are still young we will nip the problem in the bud before it becomes a big problem later on.
Students should have something to take notes and work problems with. Other than that not much is needed.
