This class is a good fit for students that will be learning how to add and subtract fractions in the upcoming school year. This class is also a good fit for students that need a review of how to add and subtract fractions. Students in this class should know the multiplication facts. The students should also know how to solve basic division problems.

The class will begin each day with a review of the multiplication facts and then a quick Kahoot game. Next, the vocabulary words equivalent fraction, least common denominator, and simplest form will be explained and discussed. During the lesson, I will model on the Zoom whiteboard how to find equivalent fractions for each fraction. Then I will model how to add and subtract those fractions using the I do, we do, you do strategy. The students will be given many opportunities to find equivalent fractions and add/subtract fractions. The students will interact with me using Zoom whiteboard and Google slides. 

The following lessons will be taught.
Day 1. Changing improper fractions and mixed numbers/simplifying fractions
Day 2. Add and subtract fractions with the like denominators/simplify fractions
Day 3. Add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators (models included)
Day 4. Add and Subtract Mixed Numbers
Day 5. Subtraction of Mixed numbers with renaming/Review

***At the end of class, the students will participate in a review using Kahoot games. This is a fun way for the students to show what they have learned. ***
