I will listen as the student reads so that I can give immediate feedback and practice skills. Your child does not need to be in third grade to take this class as long as they are reading at a reading level of Q-S and/or a Lexile score of 820-1030. All of the stories we will be reading will fall within this range. Students reading slightly above or below these scores are welcome to join. Students reading at a slightly lower level will be healthily challenged to move forward whereas students reading at a slightly higher level will benefit from easier books to develop their fluency skills. We will begin each class with a skill review. The skills we review will be determined based on the previous class's struggles. Class Format: -Skill Review -Guided Reading -Sharing Our Wins Our stories will be short passages from Reading A-Z, and will be a mix of fiction and non-fiction. Upcoming Stories: -Week of June 24: A Mission Accomplished **No Class Week of July 1** -Week of July 8: An Artist's Vision -Week of July 15: Annie Christmas -Week of July 22: Einstein Right Again -Week of July 29: Escaping the Room

Students will improve reading comprehension, reading fluency, and phonemic awareness.
Students will be able to use a variety of strategies to decode words.
Students will gain confidence in their reading abilities.
