Welcome to Forest Biology: Interactive Unit Study for middle schoolers! Join us each week to learn about a new topic all things forest. Our first class will be an introduction to forests. We'll look at some beautiful pictures, learn some new definitions, look at some authors who love nature, AND test out an activity to understand one of the many reasons trees are so important! We'll look at the benefits of different forests and the second half of the quarter will focus on deciduous forests....
5-10 1-2 liter empty bottles half filled with water sheet of paper scissors fan or folder/binder to create wind cardstock 34 coffee stirrers 15 drinking straws tape toilet paper roll ruler rubberband scissors pony beads (different colors) string print outs postboard colored pencils or markers 1-2 whole mushrooms from the store (we will want to check the mushroom for gills) dark or light colored construction paper (you will want a color contrasting the mushroom) glass bowl knife hairspray owl pellet (link will be posted) broom
