Are you interested in forensic psychology? Learn about how psychologists can work together with law enforcement. We will cover kleptomania, the psychology of firesetting, conduct disorder, and polygraph tests. These four topics are taken from my most popular forensic psychology classes. Each week learners will watch a video lecture (from an unlisted YouTube link) explaining each concept. I lecture from power point slides and will attach a handout of the slides so learners can take notes (if...
I have a PhD in psychology from the University of Arizona. I've taught college level psychology courses for ten years.
除了 Outschool 教室外,本課程也使用:
I do not discuss graphic details of crimes in this class. In week #1, we discuss kleptomania which is where a person has an impulse to steal items they do not need. All the case studies describe a person stealing an object (or several objects) In week #2, we discuss firesetting. In the cases I present a person burns down a building (a barn) and another person sets a fire in an apartment. In this second case, a woman dies in the fire, but we do not go into any more details than stating "a woman dies". In week #3, we discuss conduct disorder. We will talk about how a person with conduct disorder has an increased tendency to commit crimes. However, we do not discuss the details of crimes. In week #4, we take a scientific approach to examining the accuracy of polygraph tests. We think critically about what polygraph tests might tell us and we do not discuss the details of any specific cases.
This material is covered in college level Introduction to Forensic Psychology courses. The information is derived from the textbook: Introduction to Forensic Psychology: Research and Applications by Curt Bartol and research journals in the field of forensic psychology.
