"Nooooo! Not writing!  I hate writing.  I can't think of anything to write about."  I am sure you have heard it all.  Students hate creative writing because they just simply don't know what to do or have too many requirements thus no longer making it be creative.  Creative writing is giving them the springboard to writing their own really fantastic things but still within what the requirements are.  This class will give them the tools and ideas they need.  I will include a variety of online apps and helpful links to get free png clipart. 
Students will have the opportunity to create poetry, a travel brochure using Google Slides, a free storybook online app, video/explainer video app, upload a how-to video to youtube and use a storyboard app to be used for a narrative.  Students do not need to be seen in their how-to videos.  During class, I will explain the process, demonstrate using the various apps, work with the students to create a class project, and encourage and comment as they submit their process of creating a masterpiece. 
Literature will sometimes be used as a springboard.  Technology will be used every week in this class and I will teach them how to use it. Students may do the assignments by hand.  

Students will interact with each other and me both privately or in the classroom by posting on the classroom discussion boards any completed writing assignments.  Students will be required to post their final work each week to the classroom for others to view.  Students should comment on the posted projects.  Feedback (and if requested grades) will be given for all submitted assignments.  Any questions can be sent to me through the classroom either privately or publicly for other students to see. 

Class 1 - Thesaurus and Vivid Verbs and Adjectives - Cinquains (thesaurus.com and google docs or slides will be used)
Class 2 - 3 Creative Beginnings to Sentences -Travel Brochure (Will use Canva)
Class 3 - Book or Historical Character Analysis Poem BIO Poem (Practice 1st, 2nd, and final drafts, google slides)
Class 4 - Cause and Effect - Fortunately/Unfortunately Story - use of an online storybook software (free)
Class 5 - Poetry Corner 1- Humorous Poem - Limericks (online video making app, free)
Class 6 - Poetry Corner 2 - Nature Poem - Haiku/Origami/digital origami - use of Google Slides, Links for free PNG images 
Class 7 - Video and How-to Paragraph - Oral Video Presentation uploaded into the classroom. (Filmora)
Class 8 - Narrative - Realistic Historical Fiction- online storyboard software (free)
