課堂經歷
My Hero Academia fans welcome! Whether you’ve seen every episode and read every volume of the manga, or you’ve never seen the show but are interested in the characters, this class is for you. In this 5-week course, we will draw character portraits of 5 popular characters from the anime My Hero Academia. Lessons will include detailed step-by-step instruction to help the students create neck-up pencil drawings of the characters. Though we won’t cover coloring in class, students are welcome to add color to their drawings on their own. Each week we will focus on a new character. The schedule of characters is listed below. Week 1: Deku Week 2: Bakugo Week 3: Ochaco Week 4: Tsu Week 5: Todoroki Please note that this is a Flexible Schedule class, meaning it does not contain live meetings. Instead, students can learn on a flexible schedule by following pre-recorded video lessons, posting their drawings, and receiving personalized feedback from the teacher. Lessons can be completed at a time that is most convenient for each learner. Each Friday, the teacher will post a lesson video containing the tutorial for that week’s character. Students will then have a week to draw that week’s character and post their art in the classroom. Students will also answer discussion questions each week, and provide positive feedback on each other's work. Students will receive more detailed feedback from the teacher. Assignments are due on the Thursday following the video, though students are welcome to post any time during the week. Flexible schedule classes are a great option for students whose schedules don't work with the live version of the course, or for learners who prefer to go at their own pace (pausing, slowing down, or speeding up the video as needed). If you would prefer a live version of this course, and/or are interested in drawing more characters from the show, please check out my other course, the My Hero Academia Character Drawing Club.

Hello! My name is Emily. I’m a teacher, writer, yogi, and artist. I have a passion for words, movement, art, and food! It brings me so much joy to see young learners discover new interests. I am delighted to be able to help them explore new topics and fan the flames of their interest.
My philosophy is that learning should be fun. In class, I love getting to know my students. I want to hear their thoughts and give them the tools to pursue their passions.
On Outschool, I am excited to offer classes in drawing in anime/manga style. I have a variety of classes that focus on different aspects of drawing. My class list is continually growing. I love to share what I am passionate about with young learners and encourage their ideas and interests.
One of the things that makes me unique as a teacher is my wide range of teaching experience. I have worked with students in kindergarten, middle school, college, and beyond. I have taught students in the USA, South Korea, and China. I have taught classes online and in person. These experiences make me a well-rounded teacher accustomed to adapting teaching style and lesson content to a wide range of students’ needs.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Dance and English with a concentration in Creative Writing from Wesleyan University. I have also completed yoga teacher training and studied traditional Irish singing at the University of Limerick. Both of my parents are artists, and I have a life-long passion for the arts. I have worked with students from kindergarten to college age. I have taught subjects including dance, art, Spanish, and more. I recently spent four years living in South Korea where I taught English as a second language in public middle schools and private kindergarten.
When I am not teaching, I can be found reading, dancing, working on my latest novel, or playing with my cats.
