Teens face a lot daily; it's not always easy because of some issues you have never seen before. From how someone crossed your boundary or a friend treated you poorly to how much pressure society may place on you to figure out what you want for the rest of your life. It's an exciting transition period in life; there is so much beauty in being a teen. So many new learnings, self-discovery, and growth transpire, and we will touch on the beautiful moments and ones that may feel challenging. So this course has been created to help you have a game plan to enjoy your teen years with less stress and more confidence. This class will include research backed strategies and not to be looked at as therapy. In this 4 week class we will discover topics How to be a more confident person Friendships Habits for success Setting goals Understanding core values Friend Breakups Setting Boundaries Self-Love Having a healthy relationships with parents Having a healthy body and Healthy Mind. You are going to love this course, it will be taught with research backed strategies but will be engaging. Week 1: Journey to knowing self. Looking where I haven’t looked before – self discovery, self assessment Tools for exploration and questions to ask for clarity. Week 2: Filling my Tool Box Self love and self care practices Tools for depression & anxiety Triggers & positive coping tools Practicing gratitude Week 3: Finding my boundaries & discovering healthy relationships Friendships Friend Breakups and red/green flags in friendships Create healthy relationship Setting healthy boundaries Week 4: Creating my dream life Setting goals for my future ( short-terms goals i.e grades, making a team) , ( long term goals- career, college, starting a business) Understanding my core values. Habits for Success Practicing Empathy How to have a healthy relationships with my parents Here is what will be shared each week in the classroom: Pre-recorded lessons Announcements Assignments and deadlines During the 4 week class, lessons will be uploaded each Tuesday. Classes are 15-20 min each. Throughout the class I will still be providing timely encouragement, guidance, and feedback to learners. I will also be available for any questions that may arise. For the lessons, I will be using powerpoint and video content to teach information.

The intention of the class is not to elicit reports personal experiences with mental health from learners. This class will be not be taught as therapy or group therapy. If the learner begins to share any personal mental health concerns I will kindly ask the learner to refrain from further discussion in front of the class and to continue the conversation with a trusted adult. If a learner ever shares something that is concerning, I will reach out to parents after class depending on the context of the information

My educational background is in Mental Health Counseling (M.S). As I therapist, I have 8 years of experience working with teens and youth as it pertains to mental health strategies and tools. Additionally, I have completed child development and brain development research and worked as a certified educator. I am immensely passionate about teaching youth about mental health and have completed years doing so as a therapist and educator. Due to my background and expertise I will be able to teach this topic from a developmentally appropriate point of view. I have spent years creating age appropriate mental health content for teens and have a true passion for the field of mental health.
