FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE: THIS IS AN ASYNCHRONOUS CLASS. THERE ARE NO SCHEDULED MEETING TIMES. STUDENTS WILL WATCH THE RECORDED CLASSES AT A TIME THAT WORKS BEST FOR THEM. RECORDINGS AND WORKSHEETS WILL BE POSTED IN THE CLASSROOM ON MONDAYS AT 12:00 EST. If you have earned your Vocabulary Supersleuth badges from the first and second sessions of Vocabulary Supersleuths, you are prepared to continue solving the mysteries of words! There will be some optional activities. For example, I will ask the students to be on the lookout for the roots we have studied in class. If they find one of the roots in a book they are reading, they can post it on the word wall on Nearpod to share with the other students. There will also be interactive games they can play via Nearpod and Blooket.
As a homeschooling mom, I have taught my own children Greek and Latin roots. This has prepared them well for the SAT, and has also helped them in their English classes. I also have a degree in elementary education.
Print-outs - These will be posted in the classroom each week. Please print it out prior to class. Colored pencils and eraser Scissors Glue A binder with notecards. This can be purchased at any store that sells school supplies. To get an idea of what it looks like, go to Amazon's website and search "Oxford Index Card Binder."
Students will be using scissors, glue, and colored pencils, so parental guidance is suggested.
