This is an ALL level basketball skills course. Students will learn many different skills and understand how to use them in a game. In this 5 week course we will breakdown various ways to train and improve our basketball skills. Each week there will be a challenge led by myself that the student can measure themselves with the "challenge scale" and compete against me. They will record themselves doing the challenge and post the video to the class portal. Each week there will also be a question of the week. This question will be basketball related and the student will post their answer via class portal. *This is a flexible schedule course. Each lesson will be delivered via a prerecorded video that will be uploaded into the classroom every Sunday at 8pm for the following week class. There will be a YouTube link provided for the student to click on to watch the video for each week. Upon completion of the class each week, students will be required to upload a picture or video of their challenge results to share with the class and so the instructor can check their progression. I will provide feedback for each student as I evaluate for proper footwork, form, and technique. Each student will be required to positively comment on others' challenge results a total of 5 times throughout the course in order to to develop a sense of community in the class. The instructor will be available to help and will provide individual feedback throughout the course. **Participation in the classroom discussion will be required to promote engagement among students. Student may add positive comments about other learners in the class about their results each week or their video posted. Each week we will share our results and be able to discuss what we felt was difficult or easy and why. Students are required to engaged in the question of the week and comment/respond to others' answers. This will create a sense of community among enrolled students. Why a flex class? * Flexible schedule classes are awesome for families who have busy schedules or are sometimes unable to commit to a certain day or time. *Students can work at their own pace and not feel rushed. * Great for international students that live in different time zones. * Videos may be paused or rewatched at any time if learners want to continue to practice * If there are any questions or concerns, the instructor is always available via email. FLEX Course Format: VIDEO CONTENT: Weekly videos with a step-by-step breakdown are posted via Youtube link. The videos will be between 25 to 40 minutes in duration BUT the student can work longer if want/need to practice more. *NOTE EACH WEEK will have a basketball challenge and basketball weekly question. ALL challenges will be demonstrated by instructor in the pre recorded video. You must record your challenge and submit to the portal. If not able to record the challenge please just post the results. There will be a challenge scale provided each week for you to view in order to measure your results within the challenge. You can also measure your score VS coach score! Course Breakdown: WEEK 1: Dribble Combinations Students will go through a series of basketball dribbling drills to build on their combination skills. It is important to learn how to put various dribble combinations together as a basketball athlete. We do not want to be predictable as basketball players so we must learn different ways to put moves together effectively. Learning to dribble a tennis ball, therefore, can refine your coordination and dribbling skills, leading to better ball handling on the basketball court. Some tennis ball drills can also help you perfect the no-look dribble and keep your head up while dribbling. Two ball dribbling drills dramatically increase a player's dribbling and ball handling abilities. It also helps a player develop great one on one moves. This happens because after you force your mind/body to perform a really difficult task (dribbling with two balls), an easier task (dribbling with one basketball) becomes much less difficult than it was before. It's sort of a mind trick, but in a good way. Week 3 Overview Simultaneously Dribble and Alternative Dribble: - Controlling both basketballs stationary and/or on the move 3 Level Dribble: - Ankle Dribble (Level1) Hip Dribble (Level 2) Shoulder Dribble (Level 3) Two Ball Combinations: - Crossovers, Between the legs, Behind the back. Not only is it important to learn how to dribble well, but it is important to know when, and when not, to dribble. This week students will be able to learn NBA professional moves and some of my own professional moves I use as a pro. If we want to become a good dribbler and ball handler, we must practice dribbling as often as you can, using both our left hand and right hand.
