Building a Wix Website for Beginners: A 6-Week Course

This 6-week class is designed for individuals who are looking to create a website using Wix, a website building platform that is user-friendly and great for both businesses and hobbies. The class will be broken down into several topics to help you understand the process and guide you through the creation of your own website.

Week 1: Introduction to Wix and web hosting
Overview of Wix and its capabilities
Choosing a domain name and purchasing web hosting

Week 2: Setting up a Wix Site
Setting up a new Wix account
Familiarizing yourself with the Wix editor

Week 3: Designing Your Website
Selecting and customizing a template
Creating pages and elements
Adding functionality with apps and features

Week 4: Content Creation
Adding text, images, and videos to your site
Creating forms and optimizing for search engines

Week 5: Customizing and Personalizing Your Site
Customizing your site's appearance and layout
Using apps and features to enhance functionality

Week 6: Launching and Promoting Your Website
Publishing your site and making it live
Promoting your site through social media and online advertising

By the end of this course, you will have a fully functional Wix website that you can use for your business or hobby. With a solid understanding of how Wix works, you will be able to update, manage, and expand your website over time. The course will also give you the chance to ask questions, get feedback and support from the instructor and the class, and share your progress and final project.

The videos contain the information required to give students a good understanding of each topic and each one will include homework to be completed during the week. Homework assignments will include writing a list of topics, interests and areas of expertise which the students might be interested in developing. There will also be research assignments into how to choose a website style, the importance of images and videos, and the skills needed to select and enhance a suitable image. 

After watching each video and completing the homework assignments, students will be provided with feedback and the specific next steps to make their vision a reality including how to make and edit the videos. They will then review each others videos and make suggestions for each other. They will asked to play a photo creation game to see who can make the funniest photo and score each other to see who was most funny. That means lots of interaction between me the teacher and learners between themselves after each class to get the homework assignments completed correctly.

Time frame for the week:
Mondays - The teacher will post the information needed for the week.
Tuesdays-Wednesdays - The teacher can answer any questions pertaining to the topic of the week.  The students will need to complete any homework assignments and answer any questions in the class.
Thursdays - Students need to have all tasks completed and uploaded in the classroom.  
Fridays - The teacher will provide feedback to the class and individual students, students will also be able to engage in peer to peer review and be able to discuss how they went about completing the tasks.
Saturdays-Sundays - The teacher will be available to answer any questions that the students may have for the week or the next week.
