In this first-grade summer camp, students will receive a summer readiness experience through Science, Math, Social Studies, English, Writing, and Reading. This class is perfect for students going into the first-grade. In this full 1st-grade homeschool class, students will learn everything needed to succeed as first graders. Lessons will be presented in a PowerPoint form and NearPod. We will enjoy learning and practicing our motoring movement skills through singing and dancing. Students will be able to work on their social skills by interacting with their classmates. Reading and Language will cover the following: CVC words Story sequence Phonics (understanding the concepts; consonant combinations). Sight Words Vocabulary Blend consonant Sounds (vowel and consonant digraphs, and more) Read simple stories fluently and independently. Retell the main idea of a story and answer questions about the text. Identify parts of a story or book. Writing: Write from top to bottom, left to right, while using spacing between words. Correctly write 3- 4 letter words and longer words phonetically. Write simple sentences and short stories or paragraphs in chronological order. Language Arts: Use correct capitalization and punctuation. Understand and identify the parts of speech and types of sentences. Identify compound words and distinguish between proper and possessive nouns. Math: Count to 100; county by 5s and 10s to 100; count by 2s to 40 Represent numbers on a number line Add and subtract 2-digit numbers Write the date; tell time; read a calendar Count and create coin combinations; add and subtract money Identify, sort and classify 2-dimensional shapes Understanding the value of money Science: Life science (plants, animals, habitats) Classification of animals and different animal habitats Distinguishing between living and nonliving things Earth and space science (solar system and beyond) States of matter (solid, liquid, gas) Type of light energy Social Studies: National Holidays Maps Each week, our class will follow a special theme. This will help keep students engaged and make learning more fun. *A workbook PDF will be posted in the classroom for students. This is to be used as our learning worksheets such as Handwriting, Math, Science, Social studies, Reading, and Art. *If you want to enroll more than one student, please ask about our discount prices. Week of June 19th: 🌊Theme: Ocean Week Reading: Identify and describe the main idea of a fiction book using the textual details Math: Decomposition Strategies for Subtraction Science: Oceans Social Studies: Maps: Creating a map of our home and neighborhood Week of June 26th: 🏕️Theme: Camping Week Reading: Identify and describe the main idea of a fiction book using the title Math: Development of Subtraction Fluency Within 10 Science: Scientific words to describe physical properties Social Studies: Your local neighbors and surrounds Week of July 3rd: 🇺🇸🇯🇵🇱🇾Theme: Independence Day Around the World REVIEW WEEK Week of July 10th: 🔭🛸🪐Theme: Space Writing: What is a sentence? Let's practice writing. Reading: Identify and describe the main idea of a fiction book using the title Math: Development of Subtraction Fluency Within 10 Science: Space and the galaxy Social Studies: What is a community? We will be using NearPod in this class. NearPod can be used on a different device while in class, but it is not required. When NearPod is being used, the code and link will be posted in the class for you to access.
All of our art projects will be safety friendly. Your learner will not need to use any scissors.

PDF will be in the classroom Markers/crayons/color pencils Safety Scissors Hand held dry erase board (can be found at the Dollar Store or Target) Dry Erase marker Folder or Binder Suggestion: It may be easier to create a daily folder for each day with the materials/worksheets already ready for your learner. You may want to also try colored coded folders for each day; example: Monday-red, Tuesday-blue, Wednesday-green and etc. I try my best each week to let you all know what we are working on each day. If you need any other tips, please let me know. I love to help all of our learners to be organized.
