Fluency is the ability to read a text accurately, quickly, and with expression. Reading fluency is important because it provides a bridge between word recognition and comprehension. Fluency is also very important for motivation! I love watching children learn to love reading! In this tutoring session, we will read a passage together (choral reading). Next, the students will read the passage out loud to me. Students will read it 3 times (for 1 minute) as I mark off words that are not read...
Students will grow in their reading fluency by practicing reading and comprehension in a small-group setting.
I am a certified teacher in the state of NC. I have over 13 years of experience and a Master of Education with a Concentration in Reading. I have taught online, and in the public and charter school systems.
A 2-page handout will be provided for each session 2 days before the session, except for Monday sessions. Monday passages will be posted on Sunday.
