Writing a mystery requires an in-depth understanding of the genre, the conventions, and the cinematic language necessary to tell a gripping story. 

Each class meeting students will be guided by prompts to ensure forward movement on their screenplay.

When crafting a mystery screenplay, it is important to create a compelling plot with red herrings, unexpected twists, and unexpected reveals. You must also create intriguing characters with complex motives and goals, as well as a rich setting that adds to the mystery.

In terms of cinematic language, we will learn how to determine the right shots and camera angles to create suspense. Additionally we’ll discuss how background music, and sound help to create an effective atmosphere.
