幾十年來的時裝設計

This class combines fashion history with creative thinking and fashion design. It encourages students to apply their fashion history knowledge to today's fashion. Each lesson, students will briefly learn a trend in fashion history. We will analyze a look from that decade and draw it together step-by-step. Students will apply their knowledge and skills and design a modernized look and share it with us in the following class. Please note, the age range has been adjusted to accommodate older students.

The topics for each week will be one of the trends listed from each decade:

18-19th Century Fashion:
corsets, big hats, hoop skirts and bustles, bonnets, ornamental fashion (lace, ruffles etc)

1920s:
Flapper dress, Drop-waist dresses, cloche hats and bobbed hairstyles, art deco prints, fringe

1930s:
Bias cut dresses, glamorous gowns, puff sleeves, sailor pants, fur collar coats, casual sports clothing 

1940s:
Tea dresses, A-line suit skirts, plaid skirts, bolero jacket, blouses with Peter Pan collars  

1950s:
Pencil skirts, poodle skirts, cropped cardigans, hourglass dresses, capri pants, swing coats

1960s:
Babydoll/shift dresses, jax pants, stirrup pants, tie-dye, mini skirts

1970s:
Ponchos, gauchos, maxi prairie dresses, peasant blouses, mod dresses, jumpsuits, bell bottom jeans

1980s:
work-out clothes, acid wash denim, biker jackets, sweater dresses, pouf dresses, baby doll dresses, big shoulder jackets

1990s:
metallic clothing, tube tops, halter tops, minimalist dresses, grunge fashion

Early 2000s:
skinny jeans, denim jackets, cowl-neck tops, bell sleeves, capri pants, tracksuits, tear-aways
